Virtual Classes

Joyful Birthing offers a series of Virtual Classes for those families seeking preparation for birth, baby, and/or breastfeeding but don’t have the time or interest in attending a group class. All Virtual Classes are taught by Ellie Lindenmayer, founder of Joyful Birthing, childbirth educator, birth doula, lactation counselor, mother, and Family Guide at Cleo.

Virtual classes are held through a video-platform (such as Zoom or Hangouts) and include a professionally designed Keynote presentation, video demonstrations, and live on-one-on interaction. Ellie brings wealth of experience and expertise in both the birthing and baby world and has supported hundreds of families during this joyful but also demanding time. Ellie will help to ensure that you feel empowered, prepared, and confident as you embark upon this time in your life!

BIRTHING BASICS

Want to feel empowered and prepared for childbirth but don’t have the time to attend an in-person class or series? Then this private, virtual offering of Birthing Basics is for you!

Joyful Birthing offers a 2-hour virtual class (or in person, if you prefer) catered around your schedule and needs to help you prepare childbirth. Classes are taught by Ellie Lindenmayer- mother of two, certified childbirth educator, birth doula, and lactation counselor. Ellie will prepare you and your partner for birth with honesty, humor, and a wealth of experience in the birthing world. You will leave this class with a renewed sense of calm, confidence, and excitement as you anticipate the birth of your baby.

HYPNOBIRTHING CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION

Due to Covid-19 Joyful Birthing is now offering the 12-hour HypnoBirthing® childbirth course via live video conferencing. The series is for you and partner and can be taken at any point during your pregnancy. In addition to the HypnoBirthing philosophy and techniques, in this comprehensive childbirth education program you will learn what questions you should be asking your provider at your prenatal visits, what to expect from the different stages of labor, how to best prepare for a hospital birth, best practices and positions for optimal fetal positioning, a variety of laboring positions, how to best navigate any special circumstances should your labor venture off-course, and evidence-based practices for early newborn care and breastfeeding.

Classes are taught by Ellie Lindenmayer, who brings a uniquely personal element to the class. Having used the method herself for her two births and drawing on her experiences as a mother, birth doula, and lactation counselor, Ellie will prepare you and your partner for birth with honesty, humor, and a wealth of experience in the birthing world. You will leave this class with a renewed sense of calm, confidence, and excitement as you anticipate the birth of your baby.

The next group offering (12-hour series) will be via Zoom video on Saturdays from 9:30-12:30 on 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, and 8/1. If these dates don’t work for you, please reach out directly to Ellie, as changes to the schedule are sometimes possible.

Class fee is $400/couple and includes the 300-page book, HypnoBirthing®: The Mongan Method by Marie Mongan, and the accompanying audio downloads, as well as a complete course packet, which includes helpful tips, practice relaxation scripts, important reminders, and a variety evidence-based information.

NEWBORN CARE

This private, virtual class is the perfect preparation for first-time parents! Get tips from an expert on bathing, diapering, babywearing, must-have baby gear, newborn sleep, a typical 24-hour schedule, and tried-and-true infant soothing tecnhniques! If you don’t have the time to take an in-person group class, then this 1-hour virtual session is for you!

Joyful Birthing offers a one hour virtual Newborn Care catered around the needs of your schedule. Classes are taught by Ellie Lindenmayer- mother, certified childbirth educator, birth doula, and lactation counselor. Ellie will provide you with evidence-information, practical tips, and need-to-know information so that you are ready to meet your newborn’s needs from day 1. Note: this class can also be taken after baby is born (real-time application!).

BREASTFEEDING PREPARATION

This private, virtual class will prepare you for a successful breastfeeding relationship, starting at the time of birth. Learn what to expect in the first few days and weeks, how to optimize your milk supply, how to read your baby’s hunger cues, proper positioning and latching techniques, how to optimize the health benefits of breastfeeding to baby and mom in the first six months, common myths about breastfeeding, and how to avoid common problems, such as sore nipples, engorgement, and early weaning.

Joyful Birthing offers a one hour virtual Precatered around the needs of your schedule. Classes are taught by Ellie Lindenmayer- mother, certified childbirth educator, birth doula, and lactation counselor. Ellie will provide you with evidence-information, practical tips, and need-to-know information so that you are ready to meet your newborn’s needs from day 1.

Prenatal Breastfeeding Preparation covers the following content:

Finding the perfect latch, with video demonstrations

Interactive positioning demonstrations, including the football hold, cross-carry, and natural positions

Common myths & misconceptions that you may even hear from hospital staff or your pediatrician regarding pacifier use, jaundice, glucose levels, alcohol & medication use, putting your baby on a schedule, nipple shields, and supplementation.

Identification of hunger cues & the importance of skin-to-skin contact

How to effectively address common troubles, including engorgement, over supply, and nipple pain

The stages of lactation, colostrum, transitional milk, and how to know when your milk has come in

How to safely enjoy a glass of wine without having to “pump ‘n dump”

Recommendations on nipple creams, using the pump, and when to introduce the pacifier

Preparing to return to work with a breastfeeding baby

Feeding solutions to try before considering formula; an overview of the safest formulas available on the market today.
