Beyond Birth

Did you recently have a baby? Looking for support, access to valuable resources, connection with other moms, and community? Join us to share in the struggles, joys, and realities of motherhood! Beyond Birth was created to fill the void that so many mothers feel after having a baby. It is a very exciting time but it also comes with considerable demands and a huge change in lifestyle and priorities, leaving many women feeling as though they’ve lost themselves amidst the exhaustion, monotony, and stress of caring for a baby.

Beyond Birth meets every other month for 4-week sessions held on Wednesday mornings from 10AM-noon (the next session will run in January on 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, and 1/31). We focus on a new topic of discussion each week, including self-care, career & identity, relationship with your partner, stress & anxiety management, and more. There is always time for individual questions and support, including breastfeeding, newborn care, and sleep guidance.

Beyond Birth is so much more than a postpartum support group. It is an educational, enriching program for all mothers– regardless of how old her baby is or how many children she has– offering the opportunity for meaningful connections and lasting friendships. Beyond Birth is held in Amesbury, MA. It is a safe place where all topics and concerns are valid and discussed in an open, honest, and supportive way.

BEYOND BIRTH PROGRAM DIRECTORS & MODERATORS

Ellie Lindenmayer is the founder of Beyond Birth and serves as the lead moderator. As a certified childbirth educator, birth doula, lactation counselor, Ellie has supported over 100 clients and new mothers, and knows as a mother herself that it is possible to both love and adore your children while also feeling overwhelmed by the isolation and anxiety that can come with motherhood. Having children profoundly changed Ellie’s life, causing her to leave her full-time career as an English teacher to launch her own company- Joyful Birthing- which enables her to focus on her passion for helping other women while also allowing ample time for caring for her children. She personally appreciates the many scarifies that come with having children and can easily relate to mothers struggling with issues related to career, identity, and balance.

Samantha Watson is the co-moderator of Beyond Birth and brings her expertise as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with a background in intensive family and individual therapy, public policy, and advocacy. In December 2017 she will hold a certificate in Maternal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International. Samantha has always been passionate about coaching and supporting women at all stages of their lives. Since her first pregnancy, she began to understand firsthand the stigma and lack of attention given to maternal mental health. Samantha’s goal is to establish a safe environment to have open and honest conversations that support all experiences with pregnancy, childbirth, parenting, partnership, and self-care.  She holds a B.S. in Human Services from Lesley University and a Master’s of Social Work from Salem State University.
